The Dubai Police recently unveiled plans to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to provide prospective buyers of second-hand vehicles with access to comprehensive accident history data and mechanical condition assessments before finalizing their purchase decisions.
This initiative is part of a broader integration of AI systems into 29 administrative operations across various departments within the Dubai Police. One significant aspect of this integration involves the implementation of AI-powered technology to streamline the analysis and reporting of minor accidents in the city. Through this technology, immediate accident reports will be generated without the need for human intervention, thereby simplifying and expediting the process for all parties involved.
Comprehensive Police Services
Currently, in Dubai, the procedure for obtaining a minor accident report involves multiple steps, including the submission of accident details by drivers followed by manual review by a police officer before the report is issued. However, with the introduction of AI-driven analysis, this process will undergo significant optimization, reducing the number of steps required from seven to four. The enhanced efficiency aims to enhance the overall customer experience and operational effectiveness within the Dubai Police Department.
The implementation of AI technology extends beyond accident reporting to various other facets of policing and public service delivery. For instance, the Dubai Police app and website already offer a comprehensive range of services, totaling 70, accessible in seven languages. Additionally, the force has introduced a virtual officer named Amna, capable of responding to inquiries in both Arabic and English. In 2023 alone, Amna engaged in over 20,000 conversations with the public, showcasing the increasing reliance on AI-powered solutions to facilitate interactions and address queries effectively.
Furthermore, the Dubai Police's innovative Smart Police Stations (SPS) represent another notable application of AI technology in law enforcement. Operating autonomously without the need for physical personnel, these stations have witnessed significant utilization since the beginning of 2024. With over 127,000 visitors and more than 36,000 transactions processed, the SPSs have become integral hubs for accessing a wide array of police services. Leveraging AI, these stations offer 46 services across 25 locations in Dubai, catering to the diverse needs of residents and visitors alike.
