Abu Dhabi Health Sector Unveils 3,800 Job Openings for citizens

asmaa - | Business

As part of the Emiratization goals for healthcare institutions in 2024 and 2025, the Abu Dhabi Department of Health recently revealed the addition of 3,800 new jobs for locals.

Over the last six months, the health sector in Abu Dhabi has successfully attracted over 1,200 male and female citizens. The department urges healthcare facilities in the emirate to actively contribute to achieving Emiratization goals within their health and administrative staff.

In stressing the importance of adherence to planned empowerment goals, the department has outlined an annual increase of 1% for the healthcare workforce and a 2% annual increase for the administrative workforce. As the regulatory body for the healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi, the department is committed to supporting all facilities in reaching the target, thereby increasing the proportion of qualified national medical personnel and reinforcing Abu Dhabi's global leadership in healthcare.

In order to make Emiratization efforts easier, the department has created an "Emiratization Index" that divides medical staff into four categories according to their degree of Emiratization, from A (more than 10% Emiratization) to D (less than 1% Emiratization).

Government portals such as "Tamm," "Nafs," and "Kawader" allow health establishments to advertise open vacancies and access services pertaining to job seekers. With the first phase of Emiratization coming to a close on December 30, the department is urging residents who are looking for jobs in health institutions to register on government recruitment portals.

The department is working closely with healthcare providers in the emirate to improve the emigration rates of medical professionals and administrative personnel. This aligns with the health workforce empowerment strategy. Regardless of the kind of health facility or the number of their workers, emigration rates are applicable to all licensed institutions. The "Tamm" system and the department's licensing system for health professionals determine the intended emiratization rates for administrators and professionals in the field.

Departmental procedures for ensuring compliance include audits and inspections, the renewal and approval of Thiqa insurance contracts, the issuance of new licenses, and the renewal of facility permits. The government agency established an Emiratization goal in July of last year to hire 5,000 national cadres for healthcare institutions by the end of 2025.
