The government of the United Arab Emirates has issued a new residence visa, which is the UAE Blue Residency Visa for 10 years, and this visa is intended for a specific category of residents working in the field of the environment.

Blue residence visa in the UAE

According to what was announced by the UAE government, this new residence visa is directed to residents who have made exceptional contributions and efforts in the field of environmental protection, which includes specific applicable areas related to enhancing air quality and developing green technology in the UAE.

It is worth noting that the Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, confirmed during the recent Cabinet meeting, which was held in Dubai last Wednesday, that “the sustainability of our economy has become linked to the sustainability of our environment.”

The Blue Residency is part of the Year of Sustainability initiatives

It is also noteworthy that the blue residency visa in the Emirates is the latest initiative launched by the Emirati government recently during the current year 2024, as the government has named its initiative for this year the “Year of Sustainability.”

It is also worth noting that the sustainability campaign is extended until 2024, especially after green topics dominated last year, and during the past year the United Arab Emirates invited residents to join collective efforts to adopt sustainable practices.

Long-stay visas in the UAE

It is also noteworthy that the United Arab Emirates usually offers residence visas valid for two years only.

But at the beginning of 2019, it announced a 10-year residency program called Golden Visas for investors, businessmen, scholars, students, outstanding graduates, and humanitarian leaders, among others. Three years later.

In 2022, the UAE government announced the issuance of five-year residency permits called green visas for skilled professionals, self-employed people, investors and entrepreneurs.

Types of residency offered by the UAE to residents

  • Golden Residency: A long-term residence visa, which is directed to scholars and specialists with exceptional talents, in addition to investors, entrepreneurs, top students and graduates, the first line of defense, and pioneers of humanitarian work.
  • Green residency: It is one of the new residency systems that have been introduced recently. Its importance lies in separating the UAE residency from the work permit. It is directed to the skilled worker, self-employed person, investor or partner, and students enrolled in an educational institution.
  • Regular work visa: This visa is for work and has a period of two years.
  • Free residency in the Emirates: This residency includes children up to the age of 25 years instead of 18 years.
  • Student Visa: This visa is intended for international students.
  • Residence visa for family members.
  • Transit visa.
  • Entrepreneur visa.
  • Entry permission for the patient and the patient’s companion.
  • Spouse work visa.
