Dubai offers free parking and extended Metro hours for Eid Al Adha 2024

asmaa - | Arab News

Public transportation schedules and parking prices in Dubai will be adjusted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in preparation for the Eid Al Adha festivities.

Free Public Parking During Eid Al-Adha

Motorists in Dubai will benefit from four consecutive days of free public parking, from Saturday, June 15, to Tuesday, June 18, with the exception of multi-level parking terminals. Parking fees will be reinstated starting Wednesday, June 19. Alongside these changes, the RTA has adjusted the operating hours for both the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram to accommodate the holiday period.

Revised Dubai Metro Operating Hours

For the Dubai Metro, which includes both the Red and Green Lines, the revised operating hours are as follows:

  • On Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, trains will run from 5 a.m. until 1 a.m. the next day.
  • On Sunday, June 16, the service will start later, operating from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m. the next day.
  • From Monday, June 17, to Friday, June 21, the Metro will maintain its standard weekday hours, running from 5 a.m. until 1 a.m. the following day.

The Dubai Tram will also see adjusted hours during the holiday period:

  • On Saturday, June 15, trams will operate from 6 a.m. until 1 a.m. the next day.
  • On Sunday, June 16, services will run from 9 a.m. until 1 a.m. the next day.
  • From Monday, June 17, to Saturday, June 21, the tram will operate from 6 a.m. until 1 a.m.

In addition to these schedule changes, all RTA Customer Happiness Centers will be closed throughout the holidays. However, kiosks or smart customer centers located in Umm Ramool, Deira, Barsha, and Al Kifaf, as well as the main RTA head office, will remain operational 24/7. Service provider centers will be closed for the duration of the Eid Al Adha holidays, with technical testing services set to resume on Tuesday, June 18, and public halls reopening on Wednesday, June 19.

There will also be changes to the bus schedule, specifically affecting the E100 route from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station. This route will not be in service from June 14 to 18. During this period, passengers traveling to Abu Dhabi are advised to use the E101 bus route, which departs from Ibn Battuta Bus Station.

These adjustments reflect the RTA's efforts to manage the increased travel demand and provide convenient transportation options during the festive period. By extending public transport hours and offering free parking, the RTA aims to facilitate smoother and more efficient travel for residents and visitors celebrating Eid al-Adha.

The RTA’s comprehensive approach to managing public transportation during the Eid Al-Adha holidays demonstrates their commitment to enhancing the convenience and accessibility of Dubai’s transport network. These changes are expected to significantly benefit commuters, reducing the hassle often associated with holiday travel. By offering extended hours for both the Metro and Tram services and ensuring key customer service centers remain open, the RTA is catering to the diverse needs of the public.

Additionally, the provision of free parking is a thoughtful gesture that will likely encourage more people to use public transport, easing road congestion. This strategic planning by the RTA underscores their dedication to improving urban mobility and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable holiday experience for all residents and visitors in Dubai.
