Sheikh Mohammed: UAE Emiratisation Hits Record with 100,000 Private Sector Hires

asmaa - | Arab News

For the first time, the number of Emirati citizens working in the private sector in the UAE has exceeded 100,000, according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

Record Number of Emiratis in the Private Sector

The number of Emirati citizens employed in the UAE's private sector has surpassed 100,000 for the first time, according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. This milestone reflects a significant increase compared to previous years, with 70,000 Emiratis joining the private sector in the past two and a half years alone.

This remarkable growth is largely attributed to the Nafis program, launched by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The program has provided substantial support, amounting to AED24 billion, to bolster Emiratization efforts. Nafis aims to enhance the participation of Emirati citizens in the private sector, offering various incentives and support mechanisms to encourage local employment.

New Legislation and Policies

To further promote the localization of the workforce, new legislation has been introduced. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that these policies are designed to stimulate economic growth across the country. A key aspect of the new policy includes giving employment preference in the government sector to individuals with three years of private sector experience. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to integrating the private and public sectors harmoniously, creating a balanced and diverse workforce.

Sheikh Mohammed commended the Ministry of Emiratisation and Human Resources and the Nafis program for their endeavors, which are currently under the vigilant observation of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed. The speaker underscored the synergistic partnership between the public and private sectors, highlighting how the expansive prospects offered by the UAE's resilient economy benefit both domestic and foreign labor.

Looking ahead, the goal is to create an additional 100,000 jobs for Emirati citizens over the next three years. Sheikh Mohammed is optimistic about the future, envisioning a more prosperous and vibrant economy that offers greater opportunities for the youth and contributes to the nation's overall development.

The UAE's commitment to increasing Emirati participation in the private sector is a strategic move aimed at strengthening the national economy. By providing substantial financial support and implementing forward-thinking policies, the government is fostering an environment that encourages local talent to thrive in the private sector. This approach not only enhances economic diversification but also ensures that Emirati citizens play a pivotal role in the country's ongoing economic success.

Collaborative Efforts for Sustainable Growth

The success of the emancipation strategy is a testament to the collaborative efforts between various government entities and private sector partners. The harmonious integration of policies and initiatives reflects a shared vision for sustainable growth and development. As the UAE continues to evolve, these efforts will be crucial in maintaining the country's competitive edge and ensuring long-term economic stability. The proactive measures taken by the government demonstrate a clear commitment to empowering Emirati citizens and securing a prosperous future for the nation.
