UAE detained Man in Ajman for distributing fake automotive oil from known brands

asmaa - | Arab News

An Asian national was apprehended by the Ajman Police during a recent investigation on suspicion of dealing in and stockpiling knockoff lubricants bearing the names of well-known brands around the world.

Illegal Production and Distribution of Counterfeit Lubricants

Ajman Police Director of Investigations and Criminal Investigations Department, Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al-Naeimi, revealed the incident. He went into detail about how a tip-off about suspicious activity in a warehouse in the new industrial zone led to the raid's instigation by the authorities at the Al Hamidiyah Police Station.

According to the tip-off, the warehouse was involved in the illegal production, packaging, storage, and distribution of counterfeit oil products. Acting on this information, an investigative team was swiftly formed to look into the matter. The team ensured all legal procedures were followed before conducting a raid on the specified site. Upon searching the premises, they discovered large quantities of fake oils, confirming the illicit activities reported.

Suspect Admits to Counterfeiting Operations

Further investigation into the suspect’s background revealed his involvement in another criminal case being handled by the Comprehensive City Police Station within the Ajman Emirate. This connection underscored the gravity of his offenses and prompted a more thorough examination of his activities.

Subsequent to the warehouse raid, the police extended their search to the suspect’s residence. There, they uncovered additional significant quantities of counterfeit car oils, all of which were seized as evidence. During the questioning process, the suspect admitted to repackaging car oil and lubricants under his company’s label with the intention of selling them as products from well-known companies.

This case highlights the serious issue of counterfeit products within the UAE and the proactive measures taken by the Ajman Police to combat such illegal activities. The authorities' swift response to the tip-off and their thorough investigation not only led to the apprehension of the suspect but also prevented the further distribution of potentially harmful counterfeit lubricants.

Colonel Al-Naeimi emphasized the importance of community cooperation in such cases, noting that public vigilance and timely reporting of suspicious activities play a crucial role in assisting law enforcement agencies. He also reaffirmed the Ajman Police’s commitment to safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring the integrity of the market by taking strict action against those involved in counterfeiting and other fraudulent practices.

The successful operation serves as a deterrent to others who might engage in similar illegal activities. It also reassures the public that the authorities are vigilant and ready to act decisively against any threats to public safety and market integrity. The case is a reminder of the ongoing need for regulatory oversight and robust enforcement to maintain the high standards of commerce and trade within the emirate.

The arrest of the Asian national for distributing counterfeit lubricants in Ajman underscores the effectiveness of the coordinated efforts between the police and the community. It stands as a testament to the Ajman Police’s dedication to protecting the public from the dangers of counterfeit products and maintaining a secure and trustworthy market environment.
