asmaa - | World News

In a tragic event that unfolded on Tuesday, two Malaysian military helicopters collided midair during a routine training exercise at a naval base located in Perak state.

The collision resulted in the loss of all 10 individuals who were on board at the time of the accident. These helicopters were engaged in a rehearsal for the upcoming 90th-anniversary celebration of the Malaysian navy, as confirmed by a statement issued by the navy.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities quickly assessed the situation and declared all victims deceased. Their remains were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for the purpose of identification and further procedures. The severity of the collision left the helicopters extensively damaged, necessitating meticulous efforts from recovery teams to extract the bodies from the wreckage.

Local law enforcement officials reported that among the casualties were three women and seven men. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves throughout the nation, prompting an outpouring of grief and condolences from the public. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed profound sorrow over the loss, describing the event as "heartbreaking and soul-wrenching." He reassured the nation that the Navy would promptly initiate an investigation to determine the cause of this devastating accident.

The collision serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks associated with military training exercises and underscores the importance of stringent safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future. As the nation mourns the loss of these individuals, there is a collective call for authorities to prioritize safety measures and ensure that proper training procedures are adhered to at all times.

The Malaysian government has pledged its full support to the families of the victims during this difficult time, offering assistance and resources to help them cope with their loss. Additionally, there has been an emphasis on providing counseling and support services to military personnel who may have been affected by the incident.

As investigations into the cause of the collision continue, the nation stands united in mourning the loss of these brave individuals and honoring their service and sacrifice to the country.
