Gunmen in southwest Pakistan perpetrated a gruesome attack, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals, according to officials on Saturday.

The incident unfolded near Naushki, Balochistan province, as a group of six assailants intercepted a bus at approximately 8 p.m. local time on Friday. Focusing their attention on migrant laborers from Punjab, the gunmen scrutinized identification cards and subsequently abducted nine workers.

Tragically, their lifeless bodies were discovered approximately two kilometers away from the highway, bearing the harrowing signs of being shot at close range, as reported by a senior local police officer, Allah Bakhsh, to AFP.

The perpetrators of this heinous act didn't stop there. Following the laborers' abduction and execution, they targeted a vehicle belonging to a provincial parliamentarian. Although the lawmaker was not present at the time of the assault, the attackers' indiscriminate gunfire caused the vehicle to veer off the road, resulting in the deaths of two individuals as it careened into a ditch.

This incident underscores the persistent threat of violence in certain regions of Pakistan, with authorities now on the hunt for suspected separatist militants believed to be responsible for the attack. The deliberate targeting of migrant workers from Punjab adds another layer of complexity to the situation, potentially exacerbating existing tensions within the country.

The methodical nature of the attack, including the close-range shootings and the subsequent targeting of political figures, suggests a calculated act aimed at instilling fear and chaos within the community. It also serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating such acts of violence and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

As investigations continue and authorities intensify their efforts to apprehend those responsible, the aftermath of this tragic incident leaves a community in mourning and a nation grappling with the unsettling realities of terrorism and separatist violence.
