Mandatory Vaccinations for a Healthier UAE

Dr. Hussain Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health at the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), has revealed that these vital vaccinations will soon be tracked and managed on the upgraded AlHosn app. This move aims to ensure a healthier and happier nation by safeguarding children against preventable diseases.

As he also emphasizes the pivotal role of mandatory vaccinations in shielding children from diseases and bolstering public health. These vaccines will not only protect the younger population but also contribute to a stronger and more resilient UAE.

Comprehensive Vaccination Records on AlHosn App

The upgraded AlHosn app will serve as a centralized repository for comprehensive vaccination records. It will cover vaccinations from birth until a child reaches 18 years of age. This digital platform will greatly simplify the process for parents to track and ensure their children receive essential vaccinations on schedule. A critical note: children who lack updated vaccination certificates on the app may face restrictions on attending schools.

AlHosn App National Healthcare Platform:

Originally designed for COVID-19 contact tracing and health testing, AlHosn has now evolved into the UAE's national digital healthcare platform for vaccinations. This transformation reflects the nation's commitment to achieving higher child vaccination coverage across the board.

National Immunization Programme in Two Phases

Dr. Al Rand underscores the importance of the AlHosn app, declaring that every resident must have it as vaccinations will be exclusively updated on this platform.

Dr. Nada Al Marzooqi, Director of Public Health and Prevention at MoHAP, elucidates the UAE's National Immunization Programme, consisting of two phases. The first phase spans from birth to 18 years, with vaccines administered periodically. The second phase focuses on seasonal flu vaccines for all age groups.

Mandatory Vaccines for Children

Dr. Al Marzooqi highlights the mandatory vaccines for children in the UAE, including those against tuberculosis, tetanus, pneumonia, diphtheria, HPV, among others. Some vaccines may require extended doses and boosters during the school-age period, all of which will be meticulously documented and updated on the AlHosn app.

The healthcare officials encourage everyone to regularly check their children's vaccination status and ensure they receive the necessary doses, particularly for common childhood diseases. This concerted effort aims to create a healthier future for the UAE's youngest citizens.
