In a collaborative effort between the Dibba Al-Fujairah Municipality and the local police, a significant seizure of 940 kilograms of illicit substances occurred during a surprise inspection campaign targeting commercial establishments and workers’ accommodations within the city.
The confiscated items included various forms of alcoholic beverages that were unlawfully distributed without proper permits and in unauthorized locations, as well as fireworks and chemicals.
Included in the haul were 87 untaxed cigarettes, along with fireworks, dairy products, jewelry, and chemicals. Engineer Hassan Salem Al Yamahi, the Director General of the Dibba Al Fujairah Municipality, emphasized that these inspection initiatives serve to combat detrimental practices, safeguard public health and the environment, foster positive community conduct, and elevate hygiene standards.
Al Yamahi emphasized the enforcement actions taken against violators during the inspections, with confiscated materials being promptly destroyed. He highlighted the municipality's commitment to daily inspection drives, aligned with its vision to cultivate an optimal living environment for both citizens and residents, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life.
Moreover, the municipality remains steadfast in its efforts to boost public awareness regarding health and environmental concerns through social media platforms and awareness seminars. These efforts are complemented by rigorous inspection endeavors aimed at upholding regulations and laws, as well as educating community members on the importance of adherence to these norms, thus mitigating any threats to public health.
The municipality has intensified inspection activities to ensure compliance with health standards and the safety of materials and equipment, with a particular focus on beauty salons. The municipality scrutinized a total of 245 salons, with 173 visits to men's salons and 72 to women's salons. This led to the issuance of 98 warnings, the identification of 25 violations, and the confiscation of non-compliant cosmetic materials.
The municipality encourages prompt reporting of any observed violations through its 24/7 emergency contact service, reaffirming its commitment to imposing deterrent measures against offenders. These concerted efforts reflect the municipality's dedication to upholding public welfare and fostering a safe and healthy community environment.
