The UAE announces a new initiative to create hundreds of jobs annually

ahmed atef - | Arab News

To prepare Emiratis for the labor market, the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF) and Al Ghurair Investment have teamed with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT).

Through training and upskilling Emirati people to fulfill labor market demands, the alliance seeks to improve integration and cooperation across the three companies. It is expected to produce hundreds of job opportunities and apprenticeships for UAE nationals in the private sector, as well as internationally recognized professional certificates for about 1,500 HCT students annually, allowing them to enter diverse economic sectors.

Attending the ceremony were Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation, and Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization.

In attendance at the partnership's announcement at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization's Dubai headquarters were Ayesha Belharfia, Undersecretary for Emiratization Affairs of MoHRE; Dr. Faisal Alayyan, President and CEO of the Higher Colleges of Technology; Dr. Sonia Ben Jaafar, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation; and Surhead Chaudhry, Executive Vice President of Organizational Development and Talent, People & Culture, on behalf of the Al Ghurair Investment.

generating employment

"This collaboration ushers in a new phase of strengthening cooperation between government and private sectors, reflecting in the creation of job and training opportunities for UAE nationals in the labor market, which is witnessing rapid growth and providing more diverse job opportunities to keep pace with the developments in various economic sectors in the country, and in line with the directives of our wise leadership," stated Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar.

"We are thrilled to work with the Ministry and HCT, which is in line with our strategy to support Emiratization in the private sector through employment and training of UAE nationals," stated Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair. As part of the UAE Government's strategy, we sincerely think that the private sector should prioritize investing in the human capital of the country.

"The agreement supports the Ministry's efforts and strategy of empowering the Emirati workforce in the labor market," said Ayesha Belharfia, MoHRE's Undersecretary for Emiratization Affairs. It also validates the strengthening of the responsibility and partnership approach among different entities to guarantee the accomplishment of government priorities and directives in involving citizens effectively in economic development, thereby equipping them to spearhead the nation's new and ambitious economic phase. By providing them with the information and abilities that guarantee their active involvement, this goal is accomplished.

Professional aptitude

"Signing the agreement reflects our firm belief in our responsibility and role of enhancing the professional capabilities and competencies of future generations in alignment with important scientific enablers," stated Dr. Faisal Alayyan, President and CEO of the Higher Colleges of Technology. HCT has implemented a new approach that will strengthen its professional and applied programs to meet the demands of the nation's economic sectors. This will be accomplished by drastically altering its educational model so that it will depend more heavily on collaboration with the nation's business community to manage professional and applied programs.

As per the agreement, the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation's Nomu program will be activated with backing from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization. The goal of the programs is to give young Emiratis the information, experience, skills, and tools they need to thrive in the knowledge-based digital economy. Additionally, the Foundation's programs will be added to the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council's Nafis platform.

MOHRE backing

Within the parameters of the agreed-upon training programs, MOHRE will fully support different stakeholders in initiating collaborative initiatives, including certificates of vocational training, international certificates of training in a variety of industries, and certificates of upskilling in math and English. Supporting marketing campaigns for training programs, the candidate selection process, and supplying the relevant data and information about them are added to this.

Throughout the relationship, the HCT will guarantee a space on campus for activities associated with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation and will facilitate the successful enrollment and completion of Foundation-funded programs offered to HCT students. The programs involve incorporating Nomu programs, giving students enough time and space to finish their coursework, and offering them all the assistance they need.

Employment prospects

In the Higher College of Technology's initial phase, Al Ghurair Investment will offer about 50 apprenticeship opportunities each year to bachelor's and diploma students in a variety of market-driven areas. Additionally, 35 job openings will be produced each year within its network of companies for applicants who have registered with the MoHRE database.

Every year, bachelor's and diploma students at the Higher Colleges of Technology will have 1,000 to 1,500 opportunities to earn professional credentials thanks to the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation and partnerships with globally renowned program providers. This will be in keeping with what the labor market requires. The programs also offer 300 job possibilities annually for job seekers enrolled in the Ministry's data, as well as upskilling programs in mathematics and English.

guidance

In addition, the Foundation will offer training, seminars, and mentorship to HCT students and job seekers listed in MoHRE's database. Additionally, the Foundation will encourage invention and innovation by sponsoring and awarding prizes for the Higher Colleges of Technology's Ibtikar business competition for student entrepreneurs, as well as by supporting the MoHRE's competitions for entrepreneurship and innovation in the labor market. Through proposals, agreements, and possibilities established by the joint teams within the scope of the partnership, the Foundation will also support various training programs aimed at improving the efficiency of the faculty in HCT, as well as other areas of future cooperation required by the partnership.
