Saudi Arabia has recently introduced new regulations regarding Umrah visas for pilgrims traveling to the country.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that Umrah visas issued to individuals from outside the Kingdom will now have a validity period of three months from the date of issuance. This is a departure from the previous practice, where the visas were valid for three months from the date of entry into the country.

The decision to amend the visa rules stems from collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the aim of streamlining preparations for the Hajj pilgrimage. It is intended to simplify the process for pilgrims undertaking this sacred journey.

Clarifying the specifics of the new regulations, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has stated that the last date for Umrah visa validity will be Dhul Qadah 15, corresponding to May 15 in the Gregorian calendar. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah intends to facilitate pilgrims from various parts of the world in their visits to Saudi Arabia by issuance of a three-month visa period. However, it is important to note that the visa cannot be extended beyond the stipulated 90-day period.

Moreover, the Ministry has emphasized that the Umrah visa is strictly for the purpose of pilgrimage and should not be utilized for employment or any other non-religious activities. This reaffirms the sanctity and significance of the pilgrimage to the holy sites in Saudi Arabia.

The recent adjustments to the Umrah visa regulations reflect Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing the experience for pilgrims and ensuring smooth facilitation of religious journeys. By extending the validity period of the visas and implementing clear guidelines, the authorities aim to promote accessibility and convenience while upholding the sacred nature of the pilgrimage.
