The Ministry of Transport in Qatar has unveiled plans for a substantial expansion of the Lusail Tram service, set to commence on April 8.

Under this initiative, the Ministry will oversee the operation of the Pink Line service, as well as all Orange Line stations. A notable aspect of this expansion is the introduction of ten new stations along the Orange Line, enhancing accessibility to key areas within Lusail.

Fox Hills-NNorth, Downtown Lusail, Al Khayl Street, Rawdat Lusail, Erkiyah, Lusail Stadium, and Al Yasmeen are among the recently added stations. Naifa and Fox Hills-SSouth are also included. At the same time, while Al Sa'ad Plaza is scheduled for future integration, the Pink Line will extend its service coverage from Legtaifiya to Seef Lusail North.

This phase of expansion will bring the total number of operational stations in the Lusail Tram network to 21, with the Pink Line servicing 10 stations alone. Operating seven days a week, the Lusail Tram service will maintain consistent hours mirroring those of the Doha Metro, ensuring reliable transportation options for commuters. Service hours will range from 5:30 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays through Wednesdays, with extended hours until 1 a.m. on Thursdays and from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays.

With the introduction of the Pink Line service and the incorporation of additional Orange Line stations, residents and visitors will benefit from improved connectivity to various destinations within Lusail. Notable areas accessible via the tram network include Al Seef, Crescent Park, Lusail Boulevard, and Al Maha Island, offering enhanced convenience for travelers. Furthermore, the expanded tram network will facilitate seamless transfers to the Metro network through Legtaifiya Station.

This expansion aligns with the Ministry of Transport’s overarching goal of establishing an integrated, sustainable, and eco-friendly public transit system in Qatar. By bolstering the Lusail Tram service, the Ministry aims to provide residents and visitors with efficient and environmentally conscious transportation options, contributing to the ongoing development and enhancement of Qatar’s transportation infrastructure.
