Saudi King Appoints 12 Judges to the Supreme Court in Royal Order

asmaa - | Arab News

In a recent order, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, appointed twelve justices to the Supreme Court who are currently serving as Presidents of the Court of Appeal.

This major step shows that the Saudi leadership is serious about improving the court system and making sure it works. The goal of appointing these justices to the Supreme Court is to strengthen the court's ability to carry out its duties in conformity with the preexisting legal frameworks, such as the criminal procedural and judicial systems.

The Supreme Judicial Council Chairman and Minister of Justice, Dr. Walid bin Mohammed Al-Samaani, expressed gratitude for King Salman and the Crown Prince's support of the judiciary. He highlighted the importance of the royal decree in empowering the Supreme Court to better serve its role in upholding justice and ensuring the rule of law in the Kingdom. Dr. Al-Samaani emphasized that the appointment of the new judges will contribute to the Supreme Court's efforts to adjudicate cases fairly and efficiently.

The royal decree signifies a vote of confidence in the capabilities and integrity of the appointed judges. It reflects the leadership's commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and professionalism within the judiciary. The newly appointed judges, who have demonstrated excellence and competence in their roles as Presidents of the Court of Appeal, are now entrusted with additional responsibilities in the highest judicial body in the country.

The Supreme Court's President, Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Luhaidan, and the other court members expressed their appreciation for the confidence King Salman and the Crown Prince had placed in them. They pledged to carry out their duties with dedication, impartiality, and integrity, in line with the principles of justice and the rule of law. The judges affirmed their commitment to upholding the values of fairness, equity, and respect for the law in their adjudication of cases brought before the Supreme Court.

Overall, the royal order appointing 12 new judges to the Supreme Court marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the judicial system in Saudi Arabia. It reflects the leadership's commitment to ensuring that the judiciary remains independent, impartial, and effective in upholding justice and protecting the rights of all citizens.
