UAE Expresses Solidarity with Kenya, Extends Condolences for Flood Victims

asmaa - | Arab News

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended its heartfelt condolences and demonstrated unwavering solidarity with the Republic of Kenya in the wake of the devastating floods triggered by intense rainfall.

These floods, exacerbated by the collapse of a dam, have inflicted significant loss of life and widespread destruction.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) issued an official statement in which the UAE expressed its deepest sympathies and solidarity to the government and people of Kenya, as well as to the bereaved families struggling with the tragic loss of their loved ones.

According to reports from Kenya's interior ministry, the toll from the natural disaster stands at a staggering 46 fatalities, with the majority of lives claimed by a mudslide and flash floods that engulfed Mai Mahiu town in central Kenya on Monday morning.

Even as the immediate aftermath unfolds, rescue efforts are underway to locate and assist individuals affected by the calamitous flooding. As of Tuesday, rescue teams are actively searching for at least 91 individuals who remain unaccounted for amidst the deluge of floodwaters that have engulfed various parts of Kenya.

The collaboration between local authorities, emergency responders, and volunteers underscores the collective determination to mitigate the impact of this natural disaster and provide relief to those affected. Despite the challenges posed by the relentless rains and ensuing floods, the resolve to safeguard lives and alleviate suffering remains unwavering.

The UAE's expression of solidarity and support serves as a beacon of hope amidst these trying times, reaffirming the bonds of friendship and cooperation between nations in the face of adversity. As efforts continue to address immediate humanitarian needs and embark on the path to recovery, the international community remains united in its commitment to stand by Kenya and its people every step of the way.
