Islamic Affairs Urges Compliance with Electronic Contract Terms for Hajj

asmaa - | Arab News

Keeping tabs on campaign services and Hajj journeys this year has shown a big difference in how much it costs to satisfy the fifth pillar of Islam. Accommodation, transportation, and the provision of extra opulent facilities by certain campaigns are only a few areas where there is a disagreement.

Discrepancies in Hajj trip costs and services

The monitoring of average prices for Hajj trips and the quality of campaign services in the current year has unveiled significant variations in the cost of fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam. These differences extend across accommodation, transportation, and the provision of additional luxurious amenities by some campaigns. Despite the call by the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat for adherence to electronic contracts between campaigns and pilgrims, discrepancies persist.

Monitoring a plethora of approved campaigns has showcased a spectrum of prices, ranging from 25 thousand to 55 thousand dirhams per person. This encompasses accommodation, meals, transportation, and flight tickets, averaging 40 thousand dirhams per trip. The reasons cited for this divergence include the level of accommodation, proximity to holy sites, transportation quality, and the standard of medical and guidance services.

The services advertised by Hajj campaigns predominantly revolve around accommodation near the Haram in Mecca, Mina camps, and Mashaer train stations. These services typically include preaching and guidance committees, free internet, medical assistance, daily meals, laundry facilities, and ironing services. Additionally, some campaigns provide extra amenities, such as barbershops and massage services.

Transportation and Accommodation

Campaigns emphasize providing top-notch transportation between holy sites, contracting with premier transportation companies for comfortable buses, and providing efficient supervision. Accommodation in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah is typically arranged in official UAE mission camps, ensuring air-conditioning, clean facilities, and additional meals during the stay.

The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat stresses adherence to electronic contracts between campaigns and pilgrims, available on official platforms. These contracts are binding upon signature by both parties, with provisions for price reductions and cancellation processes.

Vaccination Requirements:

The Emirates Health Services Corporation issues a health guide for pilgrims, highlighting mandatory vaccinations to safeguard against diseases. Saudi Arabia mandates the meningococcal vaccine and recommends vaccinations against influenza and pneumococcal diseases, particularly for high-risk groups.

Moreover, The discrepancies in Hajj trip costs and services underscore the need for transparency, adherence to contractual obligations, and awareness of health requirements. As pilgrims embark on this sacred journey, ensuring fair pricing, quality services, and health and safety measures is paramount to a fulfilling Hajj experience.
