Sharjah government announces free parking for Eid Al Fitr holidays

The public transportation system in Sharjah is set to undergo significant improvements, with the authority expanding its service fleet to 789 buses.

This expansion aims to provide commuters with more frequent trips, particularly during the Eid Al Fitr holidays. From April 9 to 12, a total of 789 intercity buses will be operational, facilitating an increase in daily trips to 6,330. Passengers can expect enhanced connectivity and accessibility across various routes, ensuring a smoother travel experience.

The Sharjah government has planned free public parking on the first, second, and third days of Eid Al Fitr, in addition to improving public transit. Nevertheless, parking fees will still be charged on Fridays and public holidays, as well as in areas indicated by blue signboards. The director general of Sharjah City Municipality, Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, brought attention to these plans at a public briefing on the emirate's holiday preparations.

To ensure public safety and convenience, parking inspectors will be deployed during the festivities to enforce regulations. Common offenses such as occupying multiple parking spaces, parking haphazardly, and obstructing traffic will be monitored closely. Special teams will also be deployed to secure Eid prayer halls and provide adequate parking facilities for worshippers.

Furthermore, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has taken measures to enhance public safety during Eid. Intercity passenger transfers will commence from Jubail Station, offering a safe and comfortable travel experience. Route 203 has been designated to shuttle passengers between Sharjah and Muscat, Oman, with two daily trips scheduled. Tickets for these services can be conveniently booked through the Amman Telecom platform or at the Jubail Bus Station outlet.

In line with efforts to ensure compliance with regulations, the Sharjah City Municipality has deployed 43 teams to monitor establishments and leisure venues. Inspectors will conduct thorough inspections at popular locations such as parks, beaches, restaurants, bakeries, salons, and barbershops. The public is encouraged to report any violations or observations to the municipality's 24/7 hotline for prompt action. These measures collectively aim to enhance public safety, convenience, and compliance during the Eid Al Fitr celebrations in Sharjah.
