Sharjah announces Free public parking for Prophet birthday

In honor of Prophet Muhammad's (Peace be upon him) birthday, the Sharjah Municipality has planned a unique treat for the city's citizens. To commemorate the anniversary, parking in public will be free on September 28, 2023.

Extended Weekend for Public Sector Employees

Beginning on Thursday, September 28, public sector workers will enjoy a longer weekend as they will be paid for this holiday. The vacation would provide Sharjah government workers, who normally get a three-day weekend from Friday to Sunday, an opulent four-day respite. Starting on Monday, October 2, workers will resume their duties.

Parking Fees Exempted for Two Days

The free parking privilege will be available for two days, specifically on Thursday and Friday. However, parking charges will be applicable for the remaining two days of the holiday. It's important to note that the 7-day paid parking zones, marked by blue parking information signs, will still require payment during the holiday and weekend.

Holiday for Federal Government and Private Sector Employees

Sharjah's public sector employees are in for an extended weekend from Thursday, September 28, while the rest of the UAE will enjoy a day off on Friday, September 29, in observance of Prophet Muhammad's birthday. This holiday signifies the final long weekend in the UAE before the eagerly anticipated National Day holidays, which are scheduled for December 2 and 3, falling conveniently on a Saturday and Sunday.

This thoughtful gesture by the Sharjah Municipality not only provides a well-deserved break for public sector employees but also adds to the festivities and celebrations of Prophet Muhammad's birthday. It's a time for residents to relax, spend quality time with family and friends, and enjoy the spirit of the holiday season.
