Saudi Arabia has recently announced a significant reduction in traffic fines throughout the Kingdom, following directives from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The Ministry of Interior (MOI) spearheaded this initiative to alleviate the financial burden on traffic violators and promote adherence to traffic regulations.
Under the new policy, there will be a 50% exemption on fines accumulated prior to April 18. This reduction comes as a result of collaboration between the MOI, the Ministry of Finance, and the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). The goal is to encourage compliance with traffic laws and foster a safer driving environment across the nation.
To benefit from the reduced fines, individuals must take proactive measures to settle all outstanding traffic violations within six months from the commencement of the initiative. You can either pay all fines in one lump sum or separately for each violation. However, it is crucial to ensure that these payments do not jeopardize public safety.
It's crucial to note that violations occurring after the implementation of the fine reduction will be subject to Article 75 of the Traffic Law. According to this article, fines may be reduced by 25%, but individuals failing to pay within the specified timeframe may face legal repercussions, including imprisonment.
